1979
Book of Common Prayer
Microsoft
Reader E-book Edition
The text has been extensively
cross-referenced with hyperlinks (click
on any page reference to go to that
page; click on any preface to go to that
preface...), and color fonts used in the headings and comment passages to
increase readability.
This
revised edition of the Microsoft
Reader ".lit" e-book
of the 1979 Book of Common
Prayer is dated 2/27/05.
Further
information and a tour of the
e-book can be found
on the
1979 Book of Common Prayer page
of
this website.
The
ebook is provided in three
alternative forms for
downloading:
1.
as the actual Microsoft
Reader .LIT file.
2.
as a .ZIP
file.
This is a compressed version of
the file. After downloading, you must use a
program on your computer (such
as WinZip,
PKZIP,
Stuffit)
to extract the
actual Microsoft Reader .LIT
file.
3.
as a self-extracting .exe file.
Double-clicking on the .exe file
in Windows will extract the
actual Microsoft Reader .LIT
file to a default folder named
"BCP_LIT."
Note
that some Netscape browsers may
corrupt a Microsoft Reader .LIT
file when downloading it (for
further information on this
problem, see Chris
De Herrera's website
on Windows CE and the Pocket
PC). If you are using a Netscape
browser to download, we
recommend you download the file
as a .zip file or as a
self-extracting .zip file.
To
download the Microsoft Reader
e-book edition of the 1979 Book of
Common Prayer, right click on the link
to the desired form BCP.lit,
BCP_LIT.zip or
BCP_LIT.exe and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link
as."

1979
Book of Common Prayer
Internet Browser Edition
This
Internet Browser edition ("HTML" edition) of the 1979 Book of Common
Prayer consists of five files (About.htm,
Bcp.htm,
Contents.htm, Cover.jpg, and Index.htm), which
must all lie in the same folder.
The name of the folder does not
matter. An internet browser capable of reading frame pages (such as
Microsoft Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) is required.
The
five files are provided for
download as:
1.
a .ZIP file. You must then use a
program on your computer (such
as WinZip,
PKZIP,
or Stuffit)
to extract the five files to a folder, or as:
2.
a self-extracting .exe file
(useful for a Windows Computer).
Double-clicking on the .exe file
in Windows will extract the five
files to a default folder named
"BCP_HTML."
To use this edition, simply open Index.htm
with your internet browser (for
example, by double-clicking on
Index.htm in Windows). You may find it
convenient to create a desktop
shortcut to Index.htm.
Note that this Internet Browser version is intended for use
off-line on a personal computer.
Several on-line Internet Browser / HTML versions
are available elsewhere --
please see the list at Charles
Wohlers' Book of Common Prayer
web site.
To
download the .ZIP or self-extracting .exe file of this Internet
Browser edition, right click on the
underlined link and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link
as." The
latest revision is dated 2/27/05.
