Biology and Belief

Can we find room for God or an "intelligent designer" in the modern theory of evolution? Can we rationally argue we are more than the products of a mindless natural selection or claim any ethical distinctiveness over any other form of life?

Is there any room for a human "soul" to cradle our consciousness, or are we purely physical entities with remarkable networks of neurons?

What defines a human being? Can we justify stem cell research, or does such work tread upon the mystery of our humanity?

What is our responsibility in the care of creation? Does God's gift to us of dominion over nature mean we can do whatever we want with the world?

In this series we explored these and other questions, using a video series Biology and Belief. Conversations in Faith and Science, hosted by Alan Padgett, Luther Productions, St. Paul, 2004. The videos lasted about 20 minutes, and were followed by discussion.
