RITE OF AFFIRMATION

A
"rite of affirmation" for 8th
graders. Although this sounds very
Episcopalian, you won’t find the liturgy in our "Book of Common Prayer".
The name is our parish’s
unique title for "Rite 13", which is part of the Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
curriculum used widely in the diocese.
Two years ago we adapted and
renamed a "Rite 13" liturgy created by
Trinity Episcopal Church in
Excelsior. We revised it further last
year. At St. John’s, our "Rite of
Affirmation" marks an important transition in faith formation for our 8th
graders and their parents. It is a time
of growth and a time of healing.
In addition to this unique
liturgy on January 12, the 9:00 service will include a guest guitarist,
contemporary music, and a youth
sermon. Join us in honoring all the youth of our parish on this special Sunday.
